I love my friends. I love my family. I love my church.

However, I need to leave. I have to leave. I want to experience more. I want to grow more.

I feel like I am in a small bubble. I want to burst through it and escape to a larger world that I have not experienced before. I know that I was created to do greater things. I know that I was not created to stay in one place.

As I continuously and desperately pray for my future, the more I understand myself. I was created to be independent, free-spirited, and sociable. But I wasn’t able to express, fully, these characteristics because I was in a bubble that I could not break out of. Now, I am starting to develop my characteristics.

God has been preparing me. I can feel it. I can see it. It’s time.

As time passes by, people might tell me, “You have changed.”

No. I am finally becoming the woman I was created to be. Nothing can stop me. God’s creation is done. It cannot be changed. I don’t remember when exactly, but I can consider having nightmares my whole life. I realized that as I am getting older, the intensity of my nightmares increase significantly, and it includes more personal memories of mine that I consciously do not remember. Every night it’s a battle with my nightmare, and I believe that every time, the nightmare wins.

However, I realized that this is an attempt to hinder me from my faith in God. Honestly, I do not think that’ll happen, whatsoever. It actually brings me closer to Him because I start to pray because I become uneasy in my heart about the deeper and darker secrets that my heart has been hiding for the past years. I believe God is definitely trying to bring these memories out in order for me to heal from them. How can I heal from them? Well, after I have the nightmare, I begin to pray. Then I start listening to His sweet voice that reminds me of His love for me. When He says these loving words to me, there is no way that I can doubt that I am not loved. When I understand that the Lord is sovereign in His plans and when I experience the fullness of His love, I become healed.

Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as it sounds. Nightmares do frighten me and I become extremely sensitive after these nightmares. In the midst of all these feelings, God never deserts me. He places people and the Spirit to help me cope with these nightmares and accept that these secrets have to be dealt with sooner or later. So why not sooner?

The reason why I am posting this is because I know I am not the only one who deals with nightmares and have many fears from the nightmares that we dream. However, I want to let my fellow brothers and sisters know that this is a great way to become stronger in faith by speaking with Him. He knows what is hurting you and He knows what is in your mind, but you have to take action and come to Him. That way, healing can take place and God can finally heal whatever that was hurting you. It’s still a difficult task for me, also. I become so vulnerable, and yet, God assures me AND you that it is okay. So brothers and sisters, take heart, and have confidence in the Lord that He is more powerful than your nightmares.

Photo

pretty bottle :) teehee.

pretty bottle :) teehee.

Is It For You?

“Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law;rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his gracethrough the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.”-Romans 3: 20-30

Our society has become built upon performance. Everything we worry and think about is what we can do to become the best. How can we rise up the ladder in society? What can I do to get better grades than my peers? How should I decorate myself in order to impress my boss/interviewer? So on. All of these thoughts in our head and passions in our hearts are consuming so much of our hearts and minds that we are, sometimes…or most of the time, not able to see the most important concept in our lives: grace, faith, and love.

How long has it been since you have said, “I can’t worry about my finances right now because I need to spend time with my Lord,” or ” I need to indulge in the Spirit right now before this test.” ? How long has it been since you have not been anxious of the things of this world? For me, it was a long time of anxiety and pursuit on many things of this world that eventually left me dry, until recently, God has shown grace and love when I was completely dry.

Why are we so consumed in pursuing so much in this world, when we don’t even spend much time with our Lord? Sure, it may definitely be for the Kingdom, but have you asked God? Everyday? Asking for passion and desire that is from the Spirit? Have we truly come to the Lord and lay everything down to Him? Or are we still carrying the burdens ourselves? Why are we so worried and anxious of our future, when we believe everything is in His hands? Why do we beat ourselves down so much when we fail in a test or an interview or even a class, when we believe that everything is in His hands? Is our faith really that little? Or are we compromising to the Lord that we are doing all of this for His name? Honestly, I don’t know about you, but I think that anything that I do, and all of the successes I achieve in this life will not satisfy the Lord if we do not spend time with Him. If we don’t believe that everything has been paid on that cross, and if we don’t believe that He has resurrected to show that He has overcome this world, what use is it to even succeed for the Lord?

In our culture and society today, we believe the only way that people will listen to the gospel is if we are in a higher status in work, school, and society. NO. NO. Let us not follow the ways of this world. That is how this world functions. The world says that we can only do great things when we are in high positions in society. We use the acronym, WWJD, many times. Well, what DID Jesus do when we was tempted on the mountain by satan? Satan proposed to give Jesus everything of this world? “Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”-Matthew 4:10
Is THIS our answer?

If we look in the Bible, we see that God uses the lowest people in society to become the influence of the world. He uses people who are hated, who are made fun of, and who are not capable physically. Why? Because these people already know what it is like to be a servant. To be persecuted. It’s much more easier for these people to be humble than a rich or a successful person. Do we have a heart like Paul? Paul was hated by many Christians because he used to persecute and kill Christians, but Paul was able to turn his heart and give all of him to the Lord. He had FAITH that the Lord will lead him. Paul didn’t pursue to become great. He just listened.

Listen, all of this doesn’t mean we should just lay back and do nothing. We should study and we should strive, but if our hearts is not where it should be, and if our faith is not on the Lord but ourselves, our success is meaningless.

So brothers and sisters, let me ask a question: Is it for you? Or, is it for the Kingdom? Do we have faith in ourselves to be great? Or do we have faith that God will make us great in His own way?

Bless you, my wonderful brothers and sisters. :)

Words Are Meaningless

2 “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool.”-Ecclesiastes 5:2-3

Tonight, in a Bible Literature class, I was challenged deeply because the Bible was not taught by a Christian perspective. I was blown away.

One thing I realized: Words mean nothing.

How did I come to this conclusion?
Well, watching my professor and my classmates are the main reasons I came to this conclusion. The professor was simply teaching the old testament bible through the perspective of an analyst. No faith in the teachings, whatsoever. Just plain analysis. It was even more surprising to see the classmates agreeing with the professor when the professor analyzed it in literal terms.

The gospel is in the Bible. Our job is to evangelize to the world of the Good News that was given to us through the word and through our encounter with the Lord. I saw that the Bible cannot be read properly, and cannot be understood without the Spirit. I always wondered what it meant when people would say that we needed the Spirit to read the Bible, but it became clear tonight. In the same way we need the Spirit to understand the Bible, we also need the Spirit to fully accept the Gospel. Without the Spirit, there is no faith. Without the Spirit, the Bible is a book of books and a bunch of stories that we read to entertain ourselves. Without faith in who God is, there is no understanding of the mysteries of our Lord’s actions. We cannot comprehend the stories of the Bible without the Spirit. It’s impossible.

I remember in my early years of high school, I used to read the Bible to analyze the literature in order to gain knowledge because everyone else seemed to know the Bible. I wanted to know more to be more knowledgeable than others. However, the more I tried to analyze the Bible in my perspective and tried to gain knowledge through my pride and greed, the more I became lost. I became bitter. I couldn’t figure out many aspects of the Bible. The controversies of the Lord’s actions did not become clear. So one day, I decided to ask the Lord. What are you saying in this book?…. I don’t get it. I need You to help me to understand. I want to know You. Finally, I started to make sense of the Word. God provided me with the Spirit that led me to understand the words of the Bible. I was able to gain faith through the Spirit as I delve into the Bible more. Eventually, I was able to grasp the FULLNESS of the Gospel, and I understood in my heart how precious the grace of our God was. I saw how amazing and how glorious the message of the Cross and the Resurrection was. THIS is the gift of the Spirit. THIS is how the Gospel reaches us: through the Spirit.

Brothers and sisters,
the gospel is precious to us. The Word is our living bread. However, we will not be able to eat the bread without the preparation to eat first. If we have no preparation, the bread cannot come into our body easily. It will come into our body painfully, even though it is still good for us. In the same way, we need to pray and ask for the Spirit to lead us before we can read the Bible, or else we will not be able to understand it, and we could misinterpret the word or we could become bitter towards it. We cannot spread the Gospel without faith. If we do not have faith in our Lord and faith in the resurrection, the Gospel is meaningless to us; therefore the Gospel would be meaningless to others. So, let us not just speak words, but let us proclaim the Gospel and the Word through our faith.

Photo

Victory.

“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, ’Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with that he breathed on them and said, ’Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.’”-John 20:19-23

Jesus. The most influential and controversial figure in this world. For believers, a savior. For non-believers, a blasphemer. But this is sure: The story of the Lord, Jesus Christ is the most humble figure out of all of the religious gods out there.

The story of Jesus Christ is a story of a God who sacrificed His one and only Son to die for many. We, the many, have sinned, is sinning, and will sin through out our lives. Knowing that, Christ humbled Himself to the cross to take all of the wrath of the Lord and become separated with His father, even though he was innocent.

This kind of love cannot be understood in today’s society. Our society does not know what sacrifice truly means. We only know what striving means. Striving, as in, taking our places on our own thrones that we make for ourselves. Each of us wants our own glory. We want to be perfect. But we cannot be. We cannot be perfect without the one who has washed us with his blood to make us pure.

This sounds too gruesome, we say? How can we teach this to anyone? This is the cost of our sins. We are the cause of the cross. We can teach this to anyone because this is how we are humbled and this is how we come to Christ. Can we die on the cross for everyone in this world? No. We can’t. We don’t have the strength to. But because Christ has died for us, we can now die in our flesh and live in the Spirit. He has given us the ultimate gift in life. Eternal life.

I believe that there is no way to disprove that God does not exist. We can try, through science, theology, etc, but we can never disprove the existence of God. How can I say it so confidently? Because we are the exact testimonies of our Lord. Because we are made in the beautiful image of Christ.

The most amazing aspect of our Lord is that He loves us unconditionally and unlimitedly. No matter how many times we sin, we fail, and we fall, He continues to struggle with us, and He continues to pursue us. He loves us so much that He thinks we are beautiful without makeup, expensive clothes, and hair. He loves us so much that He loves to just be with us. Our presence is what makes Him happy. But, how is it that we continuously ignore this love? Do we not desire such love? Do we not desire an intimate relationship without betrayal and pain? Do we not desire such affection? Then, there is no reason for us to deny His love for us! He loves us eternally.

However, let us not test Him. God cannot be fooled. He knows all of our thoughts, our actions, and our hearts. He is a mighty God who has resurrected and is a God who defeated death. He was victorious over death and was an influential figure to many kings. How can we fool a God like that? Let us be in awe of Him. Let us depend on the Lord who is all powerful and all knowing. We may think that since we are in our all time low, that the Lord has no use in our lives because the situation is not changing. However, there is always a reason. We are always growing after a challenge, trial, or temptation, are we not? Do we not grow in character when we face a hardship? Let us trust and have faith in our all powerful Lord who has defeated death.

Sunday is Easter. The day that Christ has resurrected and came to the disciples to send them out to spread the good news of His victory. Let us encounter Him this Easter. Let us receive the honor to share this Good News to the world. Let us know that our purpose in this world is to bring light and hope in this dark world we live in. Let us know that God has won. He is victorious. Let us celebrate and let us be proud that we are the King’s children.

Amen.

God is Good.

We know that God is good because of who He is and what He has done.
